This is my own personal editorial and should be viewed as such. I am a very patroitic American citizen and believe that the United States of America is the finest place in the world to live. Admitedly, it has it's problems, but if we work together, we as a whole, should be able to solve them.

Where are the American Jobs?

The embrace of foreign "outsourcing," an accelerating trend that has contributed to U.S. job losses in recent years and has become an issue in the 2004 elections, is contained in the president's annual report to Congress on the U.S. economy. So where did this start and which companies are the largest culprits? (see below for the links)

The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) wiped out thousands of "blue collar" manufacturing jobs in America, but  white-collar jobs are in also in extreme jeopardy. More of the blue chip companies such as America Online, Hewlett-Packard, and IBM are exporting American jobs at an staggering rate overseas to those countries such as China, India, Pakistan and others where labor rates are extremely cheap, enhancing the overall corporate profit..

A.T. Kearney, a global management-consulting firm, predicts that 500,000 financial service jobs will be sent overseas by 2008. The University of California (at Berkley) study projects that 14 million jobs will be transitioned to overseas labor markets over the course of the next decade, which will be a major impact to the so called the middle class, which is the tax backbone of the nation.

The Corporate leaders who dictate policies of sending thousands of jobs overseas must be held accountable to the public work force who is being denied these fair jobs in the name of the immediate short term profit margin, which is pleasing to the eyes of the CEO as well as the corporate boards. We will become a nation that is a welfare state, and can't be supported as there will be no middle class tax revenue, as without jobs, the middle class will be abolished. Then the government as well as the business leaders will see what it is like to govern a nation without jobs, without income, without hope, without future, and without support to continue functioning.

What are our options, where do we as a nation turn? With the Bush administration's stated support on outsourcing and Kerry's questionable opposition to phase it out, which is doubtable based on his advisor's statements that he is not opposed to it, as well as the Heinz company's proven track record of outsourcing virtually every Heinz product, the American people do not have a clear voice at this time.

The president can not be the only one held accountable, either Bush or Kerry. but policy changes to benefit American jobs must come from within Congress which can halt or reduce the outsourcing of American jobs by changing those tax rules that make it profitable for companies to ship jobs overseas. Congress can also prohibit a company from using federal, state or local funding for jobs transferred overseas.

All workers can be affected, white collar, blue collar, manufacturing, high tech, people at all levels, regardless of education and job skill.  This crisis is not temporary, but is a sign of things to come unless Congress takes steps to half this hole in the labor dike. Current federal tax policies contribute to outsourcing by giving large tax breaks to corporations that export jobs overseas. Most multi-national corporations,  have no loyalty or ties to the United States or the American workers. If U.S. tax laws give these faceless corporations a break to transition the labor force overseas, then guess what, it will be shipped overseas, especially if they can benefit from government funds that are milked from the breast of the U.S. taxpayers.

You, as a tax paying U. S. citizen, need to address this issue with each and every congressman, as this is the lifeblood of our great nation, and as with any life, if the blood is drained, as it is being done, drop by drop, the the life will be lost, with our way of life and liberty being lost as with other great nations in the past.

To address this with your elected officials, use this link to determine their names, emails and generate a well prepared letter. It is up to you to stop this job theft   Write Congress
